Suggestive painting on wood by the painter of the Resin School, Federico Rossano (Naples, August 31, 1835 – Naples, May 15, 1912).

Federico Rossano, together with De Nittis, Marco De Gregorio and others, started in 1863 the so-called “Resina School” in relation to the Macchiaioli and the Verists. In 1875, having moved to Paris, his painting was inspired by the Impressionism of the time. He participated in exhibitions in Vienna, London, Italy, Paris with a solo show in 1889. In 1893, returning to Naples, where he taught at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, he participated in the Venice Biennale in 1899, 1905, 1910. His works are in public collections: Galleria d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Roma, Museo Nazionale di Capodimonte, Galleria dell’Accademia di Belle Arti di Napoli and in private collections. The work of 13 x 9 cm (with frame and glass 31 x 27 cm as a gift), signed bottom left, is executed on wood with an imperceptible bevel."
