“Ingrávido” is a key piece within the Intersticio series. The work portrays the intimacy of a kiss focused on the instant when two faces converge. More than a traditional romantic scene, the composition explores the intermediate space—the threshold of contact—where time and distance seem to freeze. Gestural figuration of an expressionist bent. The anatomy and the planes of the face are not delineated by rigid lines, but built through broad, fluid, and visible brushstrokes with a pronounced texture on the surface.

Vida AMReyes. (Granma, Cuba 1991) discovered from a very young age that drawing was not just a pastime, but a way to translate the world. In 2010, she graduated with honors from the prestigious Carlos Enrique Gómez Academy of Fine Arts. There she consolidated exceptional technical mastery in oil painting, acrylic, and life drawing, foundations that would later shape her conceptual signature.
Her early career unfolded amid Cuban cultural effervescence, actively participating in young art salons and group exhibitions. Her work quickly started to stand out: in salons and exhibitions she received numerous awards and mentions.
AMReyes’ oeuvre is distinguished by a visceral, imposing realism that captures the gaze instantly. However, her approach does not stop at photographic mimesis. On top of anatomy worked with rigor or faces laden with deep psychographic expressivity, the artist overlays and integrates icons, allegories, and conceptual elements: wings that seem invisible to the bearer, suspended threads, blocks of dense color, or garments laden with symbolism. For her, the human body and everyday figure are the perfect canvas to reflect on identity.
This fusion of technical mastery and symbolic narrative opened the way to her international projection. Over the past decade, her pieces have been acquired by private collectors and galleries in:
Spain: Where her conceptual language connects with European expressionism.
United States: Included in private collections dedicated to contemporary Latino art.
Belgium and Poland: Exhibited at figurative art fairs and avant-garde galleries.
Russia: Acquired by collectors fascinated by technical rigor and the school of realism.
Currently, AMReyes resides in Spain, a country where she has established her workshop and consolidated a new creative phase. Far from the fast commercial noise, she continues to develop her artistic life with patience and rigor, exploring painting as a tool of universal introspection. Her studio today is a space of constant creation, where every brushstroke continues to reveal those truths and hidden icons that we all carry inside, but often find hard to see.
