Description from the seller

Electric Square — 2026

Colored cardboard cut into modules and glued onto prepared wooden panels, with a back frame to create a wall-suspension effect.
Dimensions: 50 × 50 cm

With Electric Square, Marco Ercoli transfers his research on chromatic vibrations from circular form to a square structure, built through four autonomous yet closely connected visual fields.

The work is composed of a dense sequence of colored cardboard modules, cut out and manually applied to the surface. The repetition of the elements creates a rhythmic, pulsating movement, in which color seems to move, expand, and bend along different trajectories.

Dividing the surface into four quadrants introduces a more rigid cadence compared to the circular works of the series. Each sector develops its own tension center, as if it were a small independent energy field, but the whole maintains a strong unity thanks to the continuity of the weave and the dialogue between the different color ranges.

Blue, turquoise, reds, pinks, yellows, greens, and more neutral tones visually overlap, creating transitions that change with light and the point of view. The surface thus acquires an almost kinetic quality: what appears from a distance to be a compact composition, up close reveals the complexity of the manual work and the multitude of individual modules.

In Electric Square, the contrast between the rigid geometric format and the fluid movement of the inner forms becomes one of the central elements of the work. The square orders, delineates, and contains; color, on the contrary, seems to continually try to surpass its boundaries.

The work thus continues Ercoli’s exploration toward a more essential and minimal language, in which figuration yields space to color, rhythm, matter, repetition, and perception, inviting the viewer to a direct and physical relationship with the surface.

The work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
