Published by Librairie de Firmin Didot Freres, Paris, 1879, fifth edition, hardcover, bound in full red pebbled cloth with decorative gilt throughout, 2 chromolith plates, 6 copper plates and 250 wood engravings, amongst 576 pages of text, French language.
Condition is very good, only some wear on the cover and the spine is faded by the sun, no writing or stamps, see photo's.

Dom Guéranger, of the Order of Saint Benedict, born in Sablé-sur-Sarthe on April 4, 1805, and died in Solesmes on January 30, 1875, was a French Benedictine monk, refounder of the Abbey of Solesmes, and restorer of the Benedictine Order in France.
Cecilia of Rome, one of the Saint Cecilias, is a Christian saint who is said to have lived in Rome during the early days of Christianity. Legend tells of her as a virgin who, forced into marriage, played a role in the conversion of her husband and led him to respect his vow of virginity. Her feast day is celebrated on November 22nd. Saint Cecilia is the patron saint of musicians and embroiderers.
