Description from the seller

Christof Vevers – Paris, Around the Comédie-Française

Christof Vevers, born in 1962, is a painter of Dutch origin whose work is largely devoted to Paris and its different atmospheres. In an impressionistic approach, he places particular emphasis on light, variations in colour, reflections and the liveliness of Parisian life.
The artist regularly depicts iconic places in the capital and scenes of daily life, favouring a lively and expressive painting in which architecture, people and light respond to one another.
This work, entitled “Paris, Around the Comédie-Française”, depicts a lively Parisian scene around the famous theatre. The Comédie-Française, recognizable by its monumental architecture, appears at the heart of the composition, surrounded by Parisian façades, terraces and numerous pedestrians.
The richness of the pictorial material and the brushstrokes of colour give the scene considerable depth. The warm tones of the façades and shop windows contrast with the softer hues of the sky and the pavement, while the numerous figures and reflections reinforce the sense of movement and life characteristic of the artist’s Parisian scenes.

Technique: oil on canvas
Dimensions: 90 × 60 cm
Signature: signed by the artist
Support: canvas mounted on keyed stretcher

The artist's biography will be provided in French with the artwork upon shipment.
Photographs showing the artwork in an interior setting are for illustrative purposes only. They do not necessarily reflect its actual dimensions and proportions.
