Description from the seller

Tableau "Belle Île l'Aiguille de Port-Coton" - 2026
Ideal for bringing a maritime and romantic touch to your interior.
The impressionist-style work offers an overhanging view of the sea in a deep blue, punctuated by flashes of white light suggesting the lapping of the water. In the center stands the famous pyramidal rocky spur of the Port-Coton needles. On the right, aochre and yellowish-ochre cliff advances into the water, while in the foreground on the left dark rocks emerge. The sky stretches in a gradient of blue, crossed by long bands of clouds tinged with warm orange, evoking late-day light or sunrise. The artist's signature appears at the bottom right.
The artist uses a strong contrast between complementary colors — the blues of the ocean and sky against the warm tones of ochre, orange, and Siena earth of the rocks and clouds.
Visible brushstrokes, laid flat by solid masses or small vibrant touches for the sea, giving the composition a dynamic and expressive look.
Painting by Breton artist Yves Decaudan - 1954
Canvas displayed at the Paris Autumn Salon, September 2022
Yves Decaudan's work is part of a colorful figurative current, heavily influenced by Fauvism and the Pont-Aven school, with a particular fondness for coastal Breton scenes.
His works frequently depict moments of calm, reading, or outdoor daydreaming in a maritime or Mediterranean setting where time seems suspended.
The artist's work is characterized by expressive, poetic figuration, driven by a keen sense of color and synthesis of forms. The artist favors bold, pure, intense color blocks — such as this deep blue confronted with bright red — creating an immediate, luminous visual tension.
The scene elements are outlined and simplified, aiming for essential rather than anatomical detail or strict realism, which brings his work closer to Fauvism or art poster style. His subjects, often solitary and maritime, convey a sense of stillness, serenity, or dreamlike reverie suspended in time.
Through colored backgrounds worked in texture or studded with light brushstrokes, he creates a poetic depth rather than a geometric one.
Paintings exhibited in numerous private collections in Europe, North America, Africa, and Oceania,
Acrylic on cotton canvas, wood frame, unframed, painted field, dimensions 60 x 80 cm
