Gian Rodolfo d’Accardi (Palermo 1906 – Varese 1993), “Horses in the Forest”.
Important oil painting on canvas depicting two horsemen on horseback immersed in a forest with autumn colors.
The work features a free, strongly chromatic construction, with dark, elongated trunks that mark the composition and a palette dominated by greens, ochres, oranges, reds, and browns. The theme of horses and riders immersed in the woodland landscape is one of the recurring motifs in Gian Rodolfo d’Accardi’s oeuvre.
Oil on canvas, 60 × 50 cm. Signed lower left.
The work is accompanied by a certificate of guarantee and appraisal listing the author “G. D’Accardi,” the subject “Cavalli nel bosco” (Horses in the Forest), the size 60/50, and a historical valuation of 400,000 Lire.
