Description:
A moody oil painting by the significant painter of Classical Modernism, Kurt von Unruh (also known/signature as K. Unrug). The work dates from 1931 and shows a landscape and architectural view in an impressionistic style.
Motif & Historical Context:
The painting depicts the view of Birnbaum (today Międzychód in Poland) with a view of the characteristic silhouette of the Catholic parish church St. John the Baptist by the water. The place Birnbaum formed over centuries a historical seat of the noble family von Unruh, which gives this work a special biographical and historical note.

Dimensions: 47 x 60 cm (including frame)
Signature: Doubly signed and dated – bottom right on the front ("K. Unrug 31") as well as handwritten on the reverse wooden stretcher/frame.
Provenance / Origin: Private collection. On the stretcher/frame there is also an old, handwritten collection or inventory number ("200 T"), indicating earlier gallery or exhibition affiliation.
Condition: Authentic original condition with beautiful patina and light, age-related signs. The splendid frame is included in the package.
