Tasting Notes
Appearance: Clear and brilliant ruby red with delicate garnet reflections.
Nose: Intense and layered aromatic profile. Exotic and complex aromas of sour cherry, dark fruits, dried violet, and mocha emerge, accompanied by intriguing notes of leather, incense, Mediterranean scrub herbs, and a clear mineral streak.
Palate: Dense, full-bodied, and powerful on the palate, while maintaining an innate elegance. The tannic structure is elegant, dense, and well-chiseled, supported by lively, bright acidity that brings energy, freshness, and an extraordinary drive to the finish. It is a wine with immense aging potential, yet already displaying remarkable harmony.

This is the estate's entry-level wine, crafted from a blend of Sangiovese, Canaiolo, and Colorino sourced from younger vineyards.
Tasting Notes:
Appearance: Lively ruby red, clear, and bright.
Nose: Fresh and fruity bouquet with prominent aromas of crisp cherry, pomegranate, and dried violet, accompanied by subtle notes of aromatic herbs and wet earth.
Palate: Snappy, agile, and extraordinarily drinkable on the palate. It delivers vibrant acidity, delicate tannins, and a clean, pleasantly savory finish.
Winery History (Montevertine)
Foundation and Origins: The estate was purchased in 1967 by Sergio Manetti, a steel industrialist from Milan, to serve as a holiday home in Radda in Chianti. Manetti planted two hectares of vines and built a small cellar.
The Breakthrough with Le Pergole Torte: In 1971, he produced his first bottles and, encouraged by enthusiastic reviews, presented the wine at Vinitaly to great acclaim. In 1977, he created Le Pergole Torte, the first 100% Sangiovese wine vinified in the Chianti Classico zone.
Leaving the Consortium: At that time, Chianti Classico regulations mandated the inclusion of white grape varieties in the blend and prohibited 100% Sangiovese bottlings. In protest against these restrictive rules, Sergio Manetti withdrew from the Chianti Classico Consortium in the 1980s, labeling his wines as "Vino da Tavola" (later IGT Toscana).
Historic Collaborations: Montevertine's success is deeply connected to his friendship and collaboration with two legendary figures: master taster Giulio Gambelli and artist Alberto Manfredi, creator of the iconic female portraits featured on Le Pergole Torte labels.
Montevertine Today: Since Sergio's passing in 2000, the estate has been managed by his son Martino Manetti, who preserves his father's artisanal and traditional philosophy, producing world-renowned wines praised for their aristocratic elegance and fidelity to the Radda terroir.
