Description from the seller
Old kepeng coin doll (prosperity statue) made from Kepeng coins, or Chinese coins. Originally used in commerce to replace barter, they were gradually phased out, and since have been used in Bali in the decorative arts and superstitious rituals, giving them the nickname “magic coins”.
The coins were originally used in Bali before the advent of modern currency. They have acquired a symbolic and ritual significance. Among other things, they were used in offerings during special ceremonies. They were believed to ensure wealth and prosperity and were therefore widely used in amulets and as temple decorations. The fact that they are round with a square hole symbolizes heaven and earth. The metal represents durability and protection, and the multitude of coins represents abundance and prosperity.
Bali Coin Prosperity doll RARE piece made of hand carved wood and string tied together coins, tied together. Most likely this is Dewi Sri a balinese goddess.
