Ralf Altrieth, 17-5-22 - XXL, oil and aerosol on canvas, 180 × 190 cm, created in 2020 or later, original hand-painted work signed and dated by the artist, with a certificate of authenticity, produced in France and sold directly by the artist, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
In this painting, Ralf Altrieth composes a world populated by figures, silhouettes and signs that seem to arise freely from color. Nothing is truly stable: shapes intersect, overlap, disappear into the matter and reappear elsewhere, like an inner landscape in perpetual transformation.
Colors play an essential role here. They diffuse, blend and respond to each other in a multitude of strokes, blotches and spontaneous gestures. The eye wanders through the painting just as it would through a world to be discovered. The forms do not tell a precise story: they suggest rather a multitude of presences, leaving free rein to the imagination.
There is a very particular poetry emanating from the work, at once playful, light and slightly mysterious. The spontaneity of the gesture never prevents the eye from finding rhythms, correspondences and new details.
Through its energetic color and graphic freedom, this canvas adds a warm presence to the space. It first attracts with its brightness and abundance, then invites you to return to it to discover its details.

CRITIQUE ET PRESSE:
"In this sense, the pictorial poems of Ralf Altrieth are a pure childish chant. From the crucible of improvisation, he conjures a pristine world made of spontaneous joys and strong impulses."
— Dr. Friedhelm Häring, art historian and museum director
"His writing through gesture and color describes a world open to new voices and experiments never attempted. His canvases and works on paper demonstrate that painting remains a major expression of the contemporary scene."
— Laurent Puech, art historian and curator
