An intense, bright gold fills the upper part of the canvas, like full light flooding a clearing. Descending, the color opens to a fresh and vibrant green, crisscrossed by long, thin stems rising from the brown ground. Among the gold and green bloom small lilac and purple flowers, painted in relief strokes, some gathered in groups, others scattered lightly like butterflies resting on the grass. The densely brushed surface of short, overlapping strokes makes every color vibrate. It is a sunny, joyful work, that carries with it the freshness of a spring morning.
