Herfst, an original oil painting by Johan Meijer, dating from 1950–1960, originated in the Netherlands, hand-signed, framed, with dimensions 73 × 58 cm.

Johannes (Johan) Meijer (Amsterdam, 5 April 1885 – Laren, 29 April 1970) was a Dutch painter. He lived in Amsterdam until 1912, at Zandgat 906 in Laren until 1925, and then in Villa Le Paradou at Heideweg 5 in Blaricum. He was married to Alberta Johanna Smetz. Meijer studied at the School for Arts and Crafts (Amsterdam) and for three years (1907-1910) attended the evening class at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam. Johan Meijer was among others a pupil of Arnold Marc Gorter. He was Gorter's assistant for seven years. Afterwards he continued his studies in Paris. Meijer's style was strongly influenced by his mentor Gorter. He mainly painted landscapes in a neo-impressionist manner.
In his period in Blaricum he mainly chose the Gooiersgracht as subject. In various weather conditions he captured the trees and water. He had a preference for birch trees and willow trees.
