Peder Severin Krøyer (1851–1909) was a prominent Danish painter and one of the best-known members of the Skagen Painters colony. He is regarded as one of the most important artists of the so-called Skagen Art Circle, a group of artists who gathered in the late 19th century in northern Denmark to paint the distinctive light and life along the coast.
Krøyer was born in Stavanger and grew up in Copenhagen. He showed great talent for painting early on and studied at the Copenhagen Academy of Fine Arts. Later he traveled through many European countries, especially to Paris, where he was influenced by modern currents in painting.
He became famous mainly for his sunlit beach and social scenes from Skagen. His paintings often depict fellow artists, walks on the beach, or outdoor dinners. He is especially known for his depictions of the so-called “blue hour light” along the Skagen coast.
Today his works are among the most important examples of Nordic painting from the late 19th century and can be seen in many museums in Denmark and internationally.

Seller's Story
We have been operating several online shops in the art trade for over 20 years. On the one hand, we specialize in rare art prints, exhibition posters and collectible reproductions, and on the other hand, we trade in art editions and originals by well-known contemporary artists.
The works we offer all come from the respective publishers, art galleries and institutions such as museums that published them in close cooperation with the artists. The works you find with us are often several decades old, in perfect or good condition and without a previous private owner.
We place particular emphasis on professional packaging. Nothing is more annoying than purchasing a rare print that arrives damaged due to poor or inadequate packaging.
If you have any questions about the works on offer, we are always happy to help you!
