E. Simonelli - Nativity scene - Set of 8 figurines - 30 cm (8) - Resin, Wood - 1970-1980

Vintage figurines marked with the Simonetti signature (or sometimes identified on the second-hand market as Simonelli) represent the beating heart of the tradition of the master figurine makers of Bagni di Lucca.
Here are the main features of these collectible works:
• The Brand "Deposé Italy": The most sought-after vintage figurines often bear on the bottom the inscription Deposé Italy together with the spider (guarantee symbol of the special plastic/PVC used) or the sculptor's engraved signature.
• The Materials: Although Fontanini's classic production originated in papier-mâché and plaster, starting from the post-war period the introduction of a ultra-strong plastic polymer (PVC/resin) made these figurines famous for their indestructibility and incredible level of detail.
• The Sizes (Series): The characters were made in various size scales, perfect to expand your nativity village. The most famous series range from 12 cm (the most common size for apartments) up to the majestic pieces of 30 cm, ideal for large displays or churches.
• Hand-painted: Each piece stands out for the expressiveness of the faces and the artisanal coloring, which gives unique warm nuances to shepherds, the Magi and animals.
