First edition (1888) of La Farce du Cuvier by Georges Gassies des Brulies, bound in three quarters blue morocco with blue marbled boards, gilt lines and titles, containing 40 pages and seven hors-texte plates by Jean Geoffroy.

This one is all about the fabulous binding. But you get a beautifully illustrated comedy with it !

First edition.
With 7 compositions hors-text by JEAN GEOFFROY. The plates look surprisingly modern for the date.
This is the first appearance of Jean Geoffroy's seven plates.
The original soft covers of the book are bound in. The front cover in particular is in lovely condition. Still bright and shining gold.
Bound in three quarters blue morocco, with blue marbled boards. gilt lines, titles and decorations. Binding is in excellent condition, with a little rubbing to the raised bands of the spine and a touch to the open edge only.
Marbled end papers. Original gilt and pale blue decorated covers are bound in. Plates have descriptive tissue guards. Inside, some of the pages (particularly end papers) have a little darkening / foxing, but not extensive. Overall a lovely copy.
280 x 190 mm (11 x 7½ inches). 40 pages.
