Alejandro Faura - La forma de la ausencia

The Shape of Absence (2026) is an original work by Alejandro Faura, executed in oil on canvas, in which the artist continues his pictorial investigation into memory, identity, and the relationship between reality and imagination. A figure appears immersed in a blue, silent, timeless space, accompanied by red fish that take on a symbolic and almost monumental presence. The red fish, a recurring motif in Faura’s visual language, represents those memories, emotions, and experiences that remain in our memory even when the originating circumstance is no longer present. The difference in scale between the figure and the large fish in the foreground creates a tension between the intimate and the immeasurable, while the contrast between the intense reds and the various shades of blue builds an atmosphere of mystery, contemplation, and emotional depth. Technically, the work blends contemporary figuration with a visible and expressive brushstroke, texture variations, and painterly transitions that allow alternation between defined areas and more gestural ones, creating a dynamic and deeply painterly surface. Trained in the art schools of Las Tunas and with a career subsequently developed in Europe, Faura has built a personal language around the figure, memory, and the symbols of his imaginary world. His work has been presented through various international art platforms and is part of private collections in Europe and the United States, progressively consolidating his presence within the international contemporary art circuit. The work is in excellent condition, is signed by the artist, and is sold directly from his own studio.
