AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Manifattura Giustiniani, Naples – Tazza all’Etrusca – circa 1820–1835

Refined glazed and hand-painted stoneware/terracotta cup, made by the famous Manifattura Giustiniani of Naples in the first half of the 19th century, circa 1820–1835.
The piece belongs to the characteristic neoclassical “all’Etrusca” production, which made the Naples manufactory famous during the Grand Tour period. The surface features an intense black ground decorated with terracotta-colored classical figures, alternating with winged figures and vegetal motifs; the interior is enriched by elegant concentric bands with stylized palmettes and a wavy motif.
Particularly interesting is the large vertical ring handle, entirely glazed in black, imparting a strongly sculptural presence to the cup.
The decoration directly recalls the repertoire of Greek and Magna Graecian ceramic styles, rediscovered at the time through archaeological excavations and the great 17th–19th century collections. This genre of production was highly appreciated by aristocrats and Grand Tour travelers, becoming one of the specialties of Neapolitan manufactories of the era.
On the base is present the characteristic embossed letter “G,” a documented mark of the Manifattura Giustiniani of Naples.
Dimensions: about 8 × 8 cm; cup diameter about 7 cm; base diameter about 4.3 cm.
The piece shows the usual slight irregularities of workmanship and traces of time consistent with the period and with artisanal production. Photographs are an integral part of the description.
Professional and careful shipping, with packing carried out according to protection criteria for works of art and antiques, by staff with certified training Palazzo Spinelli – Florence.
