Description from the seller
Leandro Olano
Éxtasis, 2026
Oil on canvas
24.5 × 25 cm
Signed
Original unique work, entirely handmade
Comes with the artist's certificate of authenticity
Shipped unstretched (rolled for controlled safety during transport)
The composition, almost square, shows a close-up of a female face in a strong low-angle perspective, with the head thrown back, the eyes closed and the lips parted. The neck and jaw elongate into a tense curve. Volume is built up through saturated color planes (yellows, oranges, reds, greens and blues) that fragment the anatomy without realistic shading. The background is a dense blue-black that isolates the figure and enhances the chromatic contrast.
The brushwork is thick and gestural; the impasto prioritizes material matter and the vibrancy of color over any descriptive detail. The result is an image of abandonment or inner ecstasy, more emotional than narrative.
It remains within the same line as the previous works: contemporary figuration rooted in expressionist-Fauvist tradition. Color is the true protagonist; the head-tilted-back pose adds a clearer emotional charge (abandonment, pleasure, or simply a moment of intense inwardness) than in the previous frontal portraits.
