Wall decoration - Handmade - Slovenia - Ladybug

Wrought iron Ladybug for wall decoration. Has a clock and a light. The ladybug, was entirely handcrafted by my grandfather, who worked as a traditional blacksmith in the coastal town of Piran from the 1950s to the 1990s. Faithful to his principles, he avoided welding and instead shaped and joined the metal using classic blacksmithing methods such as forging, riveting, and cold working. The body, legs, and antennae were all hand-formed and assembled using rivets, without modern shortcuts.

This piece carries his original maker’s stamp and is a rare example of mid-20th-century coastal artisan ironwork from Slovenia. Some minor paint abrasions are present, consistent with its age and use.
