An Art Nouveau electrified oil lamp from circa 1900–1930, made of glass with a milk glass shade and brass frame, in good condition and measuring about 35 cm wide, 40 cm high (80 cm hanging) and weighing around 7 kg.
Description from the seller
This is an original petroleum (oil) hanging lamp from the early 20th century (circa 1900–1930), later converted to electricity. The lamp was found in an old apartment in Piran, Slovenia, and is typical of Central European designs from that period.
It features:
A white milk glass shade and matching lower reservoir
The original oil burner, now fitted with an electrical socket
A cast metal frame with floral and zoomorphic decoration (possibly a lion or dragon)
A hand-painted ceramic counterweight with a flower motif
A pulley-based hanging chain mechanism – the chain moves up and down, but no longer holds its position
Condition:
The lamp is electrified and works
No visible cracks or chips in the glass
Fine crazing in the ceramic (normal for its age)
Natural patina on metal parts
The pulley mechanism moves but does not lock in place
