Vintage Porsche Design by Carrera Sunglasses - Model 5638 - Tortoise and Gold - Made in Austria
Description:
In this auction a iconic piece of eyewear history: a pair of vintage Porsche Design by Carrera sunglasses, dating probably to the 1980s or early 1990s.
This model, the 5638, stands out for its elegant mixed frame that combines the classic tortoiseshell acetate (with warm brown, amber tones and hints of dark green/blue) with refined gold-plated metal details, such as the bridge and the hinges. The lens shape is a sophisticated reinterpretation of the panto style, slightly squared but with rounded corners, suitable for both men and women.

Measurements (engraved on the temple): 52[]22 140 (Lens 52mm, Bridge 22mm, Temple 140mm). Suitable for a medium-small face.
Frame Color: Tortoisecolor (Multi-color) / Gold-plated parts
Lenses: Gradient gray/purple (gray at the top fading to a lighter purple at the bottom). Logo "PORSCHE DESIGN" printed on the left lens.
Internal Code (visible in photo): 230826 (warehouse/inventory code, not part of the original model).
Condition:
The glasses are in excellent vintage condition.
Frame: Structurally intact. The acetate retains its luster. The gold parts show only very slight signs of wear and aging, with no obvious defects or significant plating loss. The hinges are well seated. The nose pads and temple tips are in good condition.
Lenses: The original gradient lenses are in excellent condition. They may show microscopic superficial scratches due to age and storage, which do not impair vision. The logo on the lens is perfectly clear.
