Mid‑20th‑century Art Déco desk lamp in brass and opaline glass, made in France, in good used condition with minor signs of age, in working order, measuring 24 cm wide, 24 cm deep and 58 cm high.
Description from the seller
Mid-20th-century desk lamp inspired by Art Deco aesthetics, a piece that combines the geometric elegance characteristic of this movement with the ornamental warmth inherited from traditional kerosene lamps. Its body, made of polished gold metal, develops a play of stepped volumes and turned profiles that give the composition a pronounced sense of balance and refinement.
The body is organized from a circular base that rises through architectural-profile elements up to a central, oval-contoured reservoir, evoking the aerodynamic and refined lines so appreciated by decorative design of the 1930s and 1940s. Above it rises a spherical opaline satin glass shade, decorated with delicate engraved motifs inspired by vegetal and ornamental patterns that soften the brightness and create a pleasant diffusion of light.
The contrast between the specular shine of the gold metal and the matte milky surface of the glass is one of the main attractions of the piece, giving it a distinguished and timeless presence. The small side regulator also retains the charm of old oil lamps, reinterpreted here in decorative form to fit into a more modern and streamlined design.
For its harmonious proportions, its careful execution, and its evocative character, this lamp represents an attractive synthesis between the tradition of domestic lighting and the sophisticated elegance of late Art Deco, becoming a decorative element with great personality for living rooms, libraries, studies, or classical and eclectic environments.
