Description from the seller

Charming work by the painter Tito Conti (Florence, 1842 – 1924) painted in oil on canvas in good condition.
The painting measures 52.5 x 30.5 cm
The frame is the original period frame
On the back a label
He attended the Florentine Academy from 1855 and made his debut in 1861 at the first National Exhibition with Cristoforo Colombo after many refusals endured at home, in Portugal and in Spain he finally obtained from Ferdinand the permission to depart. For subjects of historical genre the painter remained faithful, presenting to the Florentine promoters of 1865, 1866 and 1868 works inspired by the life of Dante. After 1870 the painter's interests turned more toward genre painting (Le calende di maggio in Florence, exhibited in Turin in 1868), but it was especially with portraits that he earned authoritative fame, at least in the Tuscan milieu (R. William Spranger, Florence, Galleria d’Arte Moderna di Palazzo Pitti). His clientele, composed of Florence’s high society, appreciated the refined chromatic ranges and the pearly finish of his paintings: a painterly refinement whose most appreciated outcomes were in the depiction of the female figure as in the Nudes of women exhibited in Florence in 1907-1908 when, after years of absence from exhibitions, the painter reappeared to the public.
