Description from the seller
Bound in full morocco with raised bands and gilt, 12mo, 129 leaves. Front cover printed in two colors, gilded edges, profusion of woodcut vignettes. The main cover is split, detached from the book. There is a small ink blot on the back cover. Otherwise the book is in very good condition, with the interior immaculate
The work contains two ex-libris, one of them belonging to Alexander Douglas-Hamilton, 10th Duke of Hamilton, one of the era’s greatest book collectors. The book belonged to the family until it was auctioned in 1884 by Sotheby’s, reaching a value of 20 pounds at the time. It is bound by Francis Bedford, one of the finest binders of the nineteenth century.
This extremely rare bibliographic jewel of anonymous authorship from 1533 is one of the most fascinating Spanish prints made in Venice by the influential bookseller Juan Bautista Pedrezano.
