Description from the seller
Antique lathe-turned copper mirror cabinet / brush cabinet with original brushes.
A particularly decorative antique mirror cabinet, executed in richly ornamented lathe-turned copper on a wooden base. The little cabinet features a beautifully adorned top with a rich relief decoration of floral and ornamental motifs.
The mirror is located in the door at the front. Behind the door there is a copper interior with two original clothing brushes, which are very finely made and have been preserved with the cabinet.
This type of mirror cabinet, also known as a brush cabinet or hall mirror, was once used in the hallway to check clothing and hats before leaving and to brush off. The combination of the mirror, the richly chased lathe-turned copper, and the original brushes makes this a particularly decorative and complete specimen.
The cabinet has a distinctly classical appearance and fits beautifully in an antique, vintage or eclectic interior.
Period: circa 1900–1920
Material: lathe-turned copper/brass, wood and mirror glass
Special features: mirror door, rich relief decoration and two original clothing brushes
Condition: good antique condition with appropriate signs of age and use. The lathe-turned copper shows some discoloration/patina appropriate to its age.
The mirror cabinet will be carefully packed and insured for shipment with track and trace!
