For sale: A beautiful and historic chess memorabilia item for the serious collector. This is an original, framed chessboard from the legendary 15th Interpolis Chess Tournament 1991 in Tilburg.
This particular tournament in 1991 was a so-called 'Category XVII' event, at the time one of the strongest chess tournaments in the world, featuring only 8 absolute top grandmasters at the start.
The board was personally signed at the time by the participating world elite. The signatures have at the time been neatly identified with the players' names written in pencil/printed letters for identification. The board includes, among others, the authentic signatures of:
• Garry Kasparov (The winner of the 1991 edition and multiple world champion)
• Anatoly Karpov (His legendary rival and 12th world champion)
• Jan Timman (Dutch chess icon and at the time national pride)
• Nigel Short (The English World Championship Challenger in 1993)
• Gata Kamsky (Top player and rising star at the time)
Specifications:
• Tournament: 15th Interpolis Chess Tournament (1991)
• Dimensions: Approximately 55 x 61 cm including the neat, tight frame and passe-partout.
• Presentation: Ready-to-hang in a study, office, or chess club.
• Condition: The signatures were originally written with a fine pen. Due to age (over 30 years old), the ink has gradually lightened and thinned over time. However, all signatures and identification names remain clearly legible and recognizable (see the detailed photos).
A unique opportunity to own a tangible piece of chess history with the signatures of the two greatest rivals in the sport's history! The item will be shipped to the winning bidder with the utmost care, securely packed and insured.
