"Le Silence du Dojo" takes place in a quiet room of polished timber, where the late sun enters through sliding paper doors and lays long bars of gold across the floor. Behind the central figure stands a four-panel folding screen painted with misty mountains, twisted pines and a still garden, and at its edge a great blue dragon rises above breaking waves, its scales and clouds touched with gold leaf.

A woman kneels at the centre of the room, her dark hair gathered into a topknot with a few loose strands falling at her neck. She wears a long indigo silk kimono embroidered with white cranes in flight, the fabric opening and pooling around her on the floor. Both hands rest on the hilt of a katana planted upright before her, and her gaze turns to one side, as if something beyond the frame has just reached her ears and she has not yet decided to move.

To the right, in a plastered alcove, a blue and white porcelain vase holds a branch of plum blossom, and to the left bamboo stands bright beyond the open doors. The scene feels like the pause before a decision, a room in which discipline, tradition and solitude share a single long breath.

The artwork explores themes such as stillness, discipline, the pause before action and the meeting of tradition, solitude and golden light.
