Description from the seller
A Small Carved Hardwood Table or Stand
19th–20th Century
A finely crafted small hardwood table or stand, modelled after the larger traditional Chinese （tiao'an ) forms historically used as long altar or display tables. This diminutive version retains the characteristic proportions and structural elements of its larger counterparts while presenting a particularly charming and compact format.
The piece is elaborately constructed and finely carved, demonstrating considerable craftsmanship in both its structure and decorative details. Selected linear elements are highlighted with traces of gilt decoration, which may have been added at a later date.
The hardwood has developed a warm, naturally aged appearance. Apart from the later gilded decoration and minor age-related wear, the piece is preserved in overall very good condition.
