Description from the seller

Rare original flyer/brochure from 1956 for the Belgian seaside town Middelkerke with cover by graphic designer Marc Plettinck (1923 - 2006). Plettinck chose a slender mermaid who, on a dish, presents the then brand-new casino building of Middelkerke (architect A. Vereecke) to the coastal residents. In the meantime that building has, for several years, been replaced by the architectural gem that represents a real asset to the coastal municipality.

The brochure offered here counts 57 pages and is richly illustrated with typical 1950s advertising and curiosities, and a fold-out floor plan. The photos speak for themselves.

Condition B+: normal signs of use with a non-intrusive crease. Fresh colors.

Shipping: in reinforced envelope with Bpost track & trace.

Marc Plettinck (Roeselare, 1923 - Ostend, 2006) was a Flemish painter and graphic artist. He studied artistic disciplines at the Academies of Roeselare and Ostend. He lived and worked in Ostend since 1945. Plettinck painted and etched landscapes and symbol-laden figures. He designed posters for the Ostend carnival.
