Antique 21-piece stoneware coffee service for six by Villeroy & Boch, Dresden, model Dresden 6326, dating to about 1930–1940, with transfer-printed pastoral scenes; includes large coffee pot with lid, sugar and creamer, round serving plate, six cups and six saucers; overall good condition with minor aging signs, noting chips on two cups (one larger, one very small), a faint hairline on the underside of one plate, craquelé glaze and brownish stains on unglazed bases.
Description from the seller
A rare, historic and guaranteed original coffee service from the renowned manufacturer Villeroy & Boch, produced in the significant Dresden production facility.
This is the famous Art Nouveau model “Dresden 6326” from around 1912. The décor was applied in the classic transfer print method and shows detailed, idyllic landscapes with rural scenes (herdsmen, herds, cows) and a floral border. On the undersides there is the historical Merkur ground stamp with the legal protection mark “Ges. gesch.” as well as impressed blind stamps (model numbers).
The 21-piece set consists of:
1x Large coffee pot with lid (height approx. 23 cm)
1x Sugar bowl with lid
1x Creamer / milk jug
1x Medium round serving plate / cake plate
6x Cake plates
6x Unterteller (saucers)
6x Coffee cups (production-related unstamped, absolutely part of the set).
The service is over 110 years old and shows an authentic, age-related patina. Please note the following defects before bidding:
Coffee cups: One cup has a larger chip (flaking) on the outer rim. A second cup has a very small, minimal chip on the outside. The remaining 4 cups are chip-free.
Coffee pot: Inside there are age-related dark spots and stains in the ceramic. The pot is however completely watertight and ready for use.
Plates: One plate shows a very slight, superficial hairline on the underside (stability not affected).
General stoneware craquelé: As is typical for its age, the entire service displays the charming craquelé network in the glaze (especially on the pot) as well as light brownish discolorations on the unglazed foot rings. Please examine the pictures carefully. The pictures are part of the condition.
An honest, historic collection set from the late Art Nouveau era.
Shipping is provided in an extremely secure packing method with the “box-in-a-box” system and plenty of padding. International shipping with tracking and insurance is offered.
