Framed in a leather binding, this illustrated 18th‑century French edition by G.R. Fleurimont presents Medailles du Règne de Louis XV together with the ex‑libris of Count Albert Visart de Bocarmé, 130 pages, 32 x 24 cm, including 64 engraved medal plates and a revised edition dating from around 1745, in good condition.
Description from the seller
This eighteenth-century edition contains an engraved title page, a dedication to the king that begins with “Au Roy…” and the printed mention of C. R. Fleurimont, as well as a series of 64 engraved plates with medals from the reign of Louis XV. The last medal depicted dates from 1745, which allows this edition to be placed in the period during which the work was further expanded.
The copy is kept in an elegant old leather binding, with five raised bands on the spine and gilded decoration. It bears the ex-libris of Count Albert Visart de Bocarmé (1868–1947), a well-known Belgian numismatist and heraldist. As a specialist in Brugse numismatics, he built an important collection of coins, medals, and specialized works, and played an important role within the Belgian numismatic world.
Condition: old leather binding with wear to the edges and corners. The engraved title page, the dedication to the king, and the 64 plates with medals are present. Without the original frontispiece from 1736, which is in keeping with this edition. Overall in good condition, considering the age. Last flyleaf is damaged (see photos).
