Description from the seller
Piero Maggioni
Piero Maggioni (Monticello Brianza, 1931 – Viganò, 1995) was a versatile Italian painter and sculptor, whose art was formed in the wake of the solid Brianza tradition. After a difficult childhood, Piero Maggioni attended evening drawing courses at the Castello Sforzesco in Milan, developing a style characterized by formal rigor and intense lyrical exploration. His artistic production is distinguished by a formal synthesis that transfigures urban and rural landscapes into visual experiences full of energy and poetry. His works are characterized by a vibrant light and a palette rich in contrasts, capable of capturing the soul of places through a lyrical and personal filter. He participated in numerous national exhibitions, consolidating a reputation as a solid and refined artist, much loved by collectors for the sincerity of his language. He was also a skilled jewelry designer, demonstrating creative versatility that allowed him to range across different expressive languages. His painting remains a precious testimony to the vitality of Lombard figurative culture of the second half of the twentieth century, interpreted with passion and a very high level of technical mastery, making him a master capable of combining tradition with modern sensibility.
