Violin model 4/4, labelled Joannes Franciscus Pressenda, year 1839, in good physical condition and tested and playable.
Description from the seller
You are bidding on a very fine old master 4/4 violin, labeled Joannes Franciscus Pressenda q Raphael fecit Taurini anno Domini 1839.
The instrument remains in good ready to play condition with some tears annd wears but no cracks. The whole length of the violin is 586 mm and the back 356 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 164 mm; middle bouts: 114 mm; lower bouts: 204 mm.
Materials: very nice one piece flamed maple back with matched sides and scroll and straight high to medium grained spruce top. The inlaid purfling is very shiny, nearly pitch black and made of wale bone. The f-holes are beautifully executed. Golden-amber varnish remains in good condition.
The sound is very sweet, rich, powerful, suitable for soloist.
