A matched pair of silver-plated hammered bowls dating to 1930, made for the Royal Netherlands Steamship Company by Elkington & Co. in the United Kingdom, each bearing the KNSM crest and measuring about 12 cm wide, 6 cm deep and 6 cm high, in good used condition with signs of aging.
Description from the seller
Offered is a matched pair of original silver-plated hammered bowls, commissioned as commercial tableware for the Royal Netherlands Steamship Company (KNSM - Koninklijke Nederlandsche Stoomboot-Maatschappij). Manufactured by the renowned English silversmiths Elkington & Co.
Both bowls prominently feature the official KNSM crest (a crowned three-masted galleon) on the front. The undersides are fully stamped with the Elkington & Co. maker's mark, "ELKINGTON PLATE", the inventory pattern number 34163, and the date letter 'T', which accurately dates their production to the year 1930.
Condition Report:
Damage/Wear: The bowls are in good used condition. They show obvious, authentic signs of wear consistent with their 1930s age and active service aboard KNSM passenger ships. This includes surface scratches (primarily on the interiors and bases) and natural tarnishing/patina to the silver plate. There are no major dents or structural breaks.
Restorations: None. The bowls are in completely original, unrestored condition.
Alterations: No alterations have been made.
Packed with care and with insurance.
