Seiko Quartz LC Chronograph M159-5039 – LCD – Original Bracelet – 1977
Description
Original Seiko Quartz LC Chronograph ref. M159-5039, Japanese LCD digital watch launched in 1977 and representative of one of Seiko's most innovative eras.
This model belongs to the first generation of the brand's digital chronographs. Seiko had introduced in 1975 the caliber 0634, recognized as the first commercially marketed LCD digital watch with a chronograph function, and the M159 was developed later as an evolution of that technology. Year of Manufacture
The M159-5039 appeared in 1977 and stands out for its stainless steel case with a “TV/wedge” design, slightly angled toward the user to facilitate reading the display, and for its recognizable front buttons. It is considered a more compact version of the design used in the 0634 family. Digital Watch
The watch also retains its original Seiko metal bracelet with a signed SQ clasp, an element especially interesting in this type of 1970s digital watches.
