Religious silvered metal bas-relief – The Last Supper – golden frame – 56 × 40 cm
A very beautiful decorative panel in bas-relief with silvered metal, depicting The Last Supper, one of the most emblematic scenes of Christian iconography, with Christ surrounded by his apostles at the last meal.
The scene features particularly rich relief work and details: expressive faces, draped garments, tableware, a jug, an ornately adorned table, and an architectural backdrop composed of columns and drapes. The whole piece is treated in a Renaissance/neorenaissance spirit, recalling the great Italian religious compositions.
At the lower part there is a Latin inscription referring to Christ's words during the Supper: “Hoc est enim corpus meum…” ("This is my body...").
The metal shows a beautiful antique patina, with varying silvery, grayish, and slightly coppery tones that naturally enhance the volumes and depth of the relief. Some traces of oxidation and patina variations are visible and contribute to the decorative character of the piece.
The work is presented in an imposing gilded molded frame, which especially highlights the scene.
