Jo Novecento – Painter Sculptor Designer, born in the Abruzzo region, Teramo, Italy in 1956
In the 1980s and '90s he worked with the leading figures of the Roman school of San Lorenzo, which stood in opposition to the Transavantgarde. Constantly involved in fashion as well, with the production of models for tailored garments for major houses. In those years he also devoted himself to music, playing at events organized with the band Le Stelle di Schifano.
Existentialist artist, he studies and deepens the abstract expressionism of the first half of the twentieth century; the support becomes a field of gestural action but measured, vital in the explosion of the broad palette. The compositions diverge from academic classicism, are non-figurative, offering the possibility of intimate enjoyment, not conveyed. Ecstasy and tragedy are in balance.
