Borsalino - Hat - Rabbit

Original men's hat Borsalino Gran Lusso, made in Alessandria, Italy, by one of the most renowned Italian hat-making houses. Classic fedora in an elegant light beige / sand shade, crafted from high-quality, soft felt, with a wide brim and a distinctly shaped crown. The hat is finished with a wide black grosgrain band featuring a decorative knot. Inside, there is an elegant finish with a dark purple lining, a leather sweatband, and original gold-toned markings “Export Qualität – Borsalino – Gran Lusso – Antica Casa Fondata nel 1857”. There is also a size tag 57 and a branded label on the lining. The Gran Lusso / Export Quality line is found primarily in high-end post-war Borsalino hats; the form, workmanship, and markings allow dating the presented example most likely to the second half of the 1950s or the early 1960s. Similar marked examples are dated precisely at the turn of these decades. Poppy's Vintage Clothing. The hat has preserved a very nice, clear form and an even felt surface. Vintage condition, with natural small signs of age and use, particularly noticeable inside; original finishing elements, lining, and leather sweatband are preserved. A very attractive collectible example of classic Italian millinery from a period when Borsalino fedoras were among the most prestigious European headwear. Size: 57. Country of origin: Italy.
