Piotr Bigaj’s paintings are primarily captivated by mythology and symbolism. The painter consciously blends biblical and mythological contexts.
These are not ad litteram depictions, but rather reflective interpretations of the artist, revealing their full brilliance beneath the hidden symbolism. The surrealist symbolism the artist cultivates, while drawing on classics deeply rooted in the tradition of European painting, constitutes a unique dialogue with the contemporary world. The ambiguous symbolism of his works reveals the complexity of the matter he examines. It is a demonstration of the individual’s power in the world around them—an identification of relationships.
