Description from the seller
The Promised Landscape
In The Promised Landscape, Valdi turns an open window into the threshold toward a territory that seems to exist between reality and desire. Before us unfolds a landscape of sea, mountains and a luminous coast, dominated by a huge sun that transforms the exterior view into an almost imagined apparition.
The intensity of color deliberately distances the scene from a naturalistic representation. Blues, yellows, oranges and greens build the landscape through large chromatic planes, while the window frame introduces a precise geometry that separates the interior space from the immensity that appears on the other side.
Thus the window acquires a symbolic sense: looking out is also imagining another place, projecting a desire, thinking of what still remains at a certain distance. The landscape ceases to belong to a concrete geography to become the possibility of reaching that place we once imagined.
The promised landscape speaks of expectation, of travel and of that permanent need to look beyond our own limits. A luminous and deeply evocative work, where the landscape becomes an invitation to imagine all that may still be to come.
