This volume gathers the diplomatic correspondence of Sir William Temple, statesman and English essayist, written during his embassy at The Hague under the reign of Charles II. These letters reveal numerous political secrets and leading negotiations of the time.
Translated from English (by Mr. D. Jones) and published in The Hague by Meyndert Uytwerf and Engelerecht Boucquet in 1700.
The work also contains the dedication addressed to Sir Thomas Littleton, Speaker of the House of Commons.
Volume bound in full period calf, with a spine richly ornamented in gold tooling with floral motifs and a red title piece. Boards well preserved and red edges. Text pages clean and firmly bound, typical of careful Dutch printings.
