Translation of Cicero's Orator Treatise, with Notes
In Paris, at De Bure l'aîné, Quay des Augustins, on the Pont Saint-Michel side, at Saint Paul, 1751.
This volume offers the classical French translation of the famous rhetorical treatise by Cicero (De Oratore), enriched with explanatory and philological notes by the Abbot Colin, with the Latin text presented afterwards. It also opens with a dedicatory letter addressed to Monseigneur the Dauphin.
New edition revised and corrected, printed with the approbation and privilege of the king in Paris at Guillaume de Bure l’aîné in 1751.
Volume elegantly bound in full period calf, with a smooth spine ornamented with gilt tooling (floral motifs and ears) and a red morocco title piece, with gilt borders on the boards and gilt edges. Excellent overall condition of the binding.
Pages of text very clean, well bound, adorned with headpieces and ornamental initials at the beginning of sections.
