This violin is a fine example from the workshop of Anton Michael Braun (1911-1978) which was founded by his father Anton Braun senior (1877-1927) in 1896 in the Austro-Hungarian city of Temeswar.
He had learnt violin-making from his father and his older brother (Johannes) in the workshop founded by C.W.Richter in 1867 in Szeged /Austria-Hungaria.
Anton Braun Senior hand-crafted various instruments and when he died in 1928 his son Anton Michael Braun (1911-1978) took over the business, later (since 1958) specialising exclusively in saxophone-making.
The instrument bears no cracks, or, scratches, but shows some signs of wear and has a resonant tone that is both expressive and crisp. It comes with a velvet-lined case and two fully-haired Brazilian bows.
Violins and bows described as 'certified' or 'attributed' include images of their certificates and are therefore considered to have a higher degree of documented certainty regarding maker, origin, and age than instruments described only as 'labelled' (violins) or 'stamped' (bows), for which we provide no guarantee of any kind
