Description from the seller
One Magnum of Cascina Fontana Barolo del Comune di Castiglione Falletto 2017 in original wooden case — from one of Barolo’s most authentic and artisanal family estates, run by Mario Fontana for six generations in the hamlet of Perno, Monforte d’Alba. This wine is produced only in vintages that Mario personally deems suitable for a single-commune selection — grapes sourced exclusively from the MGA Villero and Mariondino vineyards in Castiglione Falletto, harvested by hand at full ripeness. Fermented with native yeasts with long maceration, aged two years in 25-hectolitre Slavonian oak casks plus one year in cement, bottled without filtering, fining or added sulphur. The 2017, from a warm and generous vintage, delivers elegant aromas of roses and violets, ripe cherries and black currants, with earthy and spicy hints of licorice and tobacco, complemented by balsamic and mineral nuances from the limestone-clay soils. Austere and elegant on the palate — balanced, with silky tannins and an enveloping texture that rewards patience. The Magnum format guarantees slower and more graceful evolution. Magnum in original wooden case, perfect condition. Stored in a professional temperature-controlled cellar.
