Who is Pier?

Son of parents working abroad, Pier, alias Pierre Sullice, spent his childhood and adolescence in Latin America. It was during his stay in Ecuador, thanks to the friendship of his stepson, that he discovered the work of Oswaldo Guayasamín and awakened to the visual arts. Since that day, he has been passionate about painting, notably modern and contemporary art.

After studying modern literature and philosophy, Pier joined La Fémis before writing his first fiction screenplay, the story of a painter exiled in the Cévennes who discovers a materialist approach to painting through a person with Down syndrome. Titled “Les bois transparents,” the screenplay won the Cent Premières œuvres, a competition set up by France Télévisions. Pier himself made the film, which was broadcast on France 3, RFO and TMC and awarded at numerous festivals.

Without renouncing writing, reading and audiovisual animation, Pier continues his exploration of the visual arts, creating numerous collages inspired by children’s drawings. In 2023, after ending his career in audiovisual work, he settled in the Gard to devote himself exclusively to painting.

Flourishing in his Lecques studio, Pier broadens his pictorial exploration by working on recycled paper supports or decorative canvases on stretchers using acrylic paint, marker or pastel. In doing so, he openly aligns with an Art Brut and Cobra current that owes as much to Chaissac as to Karel Appel, Alechinsky or Lindström. By blending spontaneity and humor, he forges a personal path that leads to a flourishing display of characters both surprising and endearing.
