Lot of 16 colour plates from Atlas des Plantes de France Utiles, Nuisibles et Ornementales, in an illustrated edition by Amédée Masclef, Gaston Bonnier and Georges de Layens, dating from 1891 or earlier, with 230 × 150 mm plates and a total of 16 pages, in good condition with some foxing and browning and visible binding marks.

Collection of 16 colored plates from the "Atlas des Plantes de France Utiles, Nuisibles et Ornementales".
Excellent inking and copperplate printing on heavy paper, beautiful contemporary coloring. Good state of conservation, widespread traces of foxing and browning, visible binding marks on the left/right of the image as shown in the photo. Shipping insured via Bartolini/DPD courier. To benefit from the insurance coverage, any damage to the neck (collo) must be contested and reported to the courier at the time of delivery. Otherwise, it will not be possible to activate the insurance reimbursement procedure.
Amédée Masclef (1856–1916) was a French abbot and botanist, famous in the history of science mainly for the work "Atlas de Plantes de France, Utiles, Nuisibles et Ornementales. 400 Planches coloriées représentant 450 plantes communes Avec de nombreuses figures de détail et Un texte explicatif des Propriétés des Plantes, de leurs Usages et Applications en Médecine, Agriculture, Horticulture, dans l'Industrie, l'Economie domestique, etc. Par A. gaston Bonnier (1853–1922): He was a brilliant botanist, ecologist and esteemed professor at the Sorbonne in Paris. A member of the French Academy, he devoted over twenty years of his life to the compilation of the monumental work "Grande Flore en couleurs de la France."
Georges de Layens (1834–1897): He was a noted naturalist and above all one of the fathers of modern beekeeping. He developed the eponymous "Layens’ Hive," a horizontal-development model still widely used in Europe (especially in Spain).
