Mount Fuji-Shaped Bronze Vase with Ajiro Pattern, Takaoka Doki - Bronze - 1900-2000

Item Description
A bronze flower vase in the form of Mount Fuji, crafted in the Takaoka Doki tradition. It features a tall, arching handle, giving it the appearance of a basket. The conical body and handle are finely cast with an ajiro (bamboo weave) pattern, lending the metalwork a textile-like quality despite being made of metal. The body is divided by raised vertical seams, and the mouth is finished with a rounded rim. The piece displays a warm, reddish-brown patina throughout.

The base bears a raised Japanese inscription reading: "Karaya Co., Ltd. — Commemorating the 150th Anniversary of Our Founding, October Heisei 28" (October 2016). This suggests the vase was produced as a commemorative piece. A wooden presentation box (tomobako) is included.
