Wuthering Heights (1847) was Emily Brontë’s only novel

In 1947, its centenary year, a Paris publisher produced it as a monumental illustrated edition.

147 original lithographs by Léon Masson, plus a separate suite of 23 portraits of the characters.

This is one of only 30 copies on Rives (white or tinted), the deluxe issue. These copies came with extras for collectors:
the 23 portraits as a separate suite;
the refused plates (planches refusées), 12 lithographs that the artist or publisher rejected from the final book
and, in this copy, two original drawings by Masson in India ink and wash, bound into the first volume. They are unique objects, done by the artist’s hand.

Seller's Story

We are professional booksellers based in France, and have been members of ILAB for many years. We currently hold full membership of SLAM, as well as other organisations. We also sell at fairs and markets across Europe. We are often found at brocantes and marches, searching for books and prints. We are also always interested in acquiring new stock from individuals, so if you have books or prints to sell, do get in touch. We are proud to purchase biodegradable packaging and materials. Where possible, all of our book wrap and tape are compostable or re-cyclable. If you do receive any plastic bubble wrap from us - it is because we are re-using items we have received.
