Verssan finds in pastel a way to appropriate the body through plays of curves, hollows and fullness, shadows and light, by rubbing, blending and blowing the medium onto the paper. The artist treats his subjects using monochrome tones while playing with the color of the support in warm gray tones, revealing both softness and delicacy but also strength and virility.
